Paint Correction Services

Services

Automotive paint correction IS the permanent elimination or reduction of imperfections from the top layer of your car's paint system; the clear coat. The paint is left with a new-car finish. In many cases the finish looks better than new! Automotive paint correction IS NOT using filler products to hide the paint's defects. That is the practice you will find at the vast majority of drive-through hand wash service stations. A wash or two later the defects reappear and you are left disappointed and lighter in the wallet.

Imperfections arise from many different sources; acid rain, industrial fallout, sand, pollen, tree sap, bird droppings, drive-through car washes and buffer machine marks left by untrained detailers, to name a few. Whatever the source, your car's paint is compromised. Swirls, water spots, bird etchings, and deep scratches make the paint look dull and hazy. Arizona Department of Paint Corrections permanently removes the flaws and restores a mirror-like shine to the paint. First we use appropriate combinations of buffing machines, abrasive compounds and polishes to smooth the clear coat. Then we apply combinations of sealants, waxes or coatings to add depth and gloss to the paint. These supplementary layers also provide additional protection to the paint system.

Finally, through an ongoing maintenance program AzDPC helps to keep your car in pristine condition.

Paint Defect Removal

Paint Defects

Services Overview

Each package begins with a comprehensive procedure designed to elevate your car's paint to a condition where it is ready for compounding and polishing. This is a vital process. It is necessary to achieve optimal results.

First the car is thoroughly and meticulously hand washed. Contaminants embedded in the clear coat are then removed through a 2-step process. Microscopic iron deposits are removed chemically then the remaining particulates are removed mechanically using a clay-bar. The surface of the paint is now ready for polishing.

After we have refined your car's paint, we complete each detail package by cleaning the surface of the wheels, adding a no-sling dressing to the tires and cleaning the exterior of all windows.

* Keep in mind that there is flexibility within and between the following service levels. When we meet to inspect your car's paint we discuss your objectives. This gives us an understanding of the results you would like to achieve. We can then alter our services and the products we use to meet your needs.

** It is important that your car's paint system is evaluated in person. A true professional paint correction specialist will always inspect your car's paint system before giving you a service fee estimate.

Bronze Package

$300.00 and up
Approximate time: 4 hours

The cleansers and abrasives used in this process work together to remove oxidation, shallow swirls and scratches and similar light defects. Clarity and richness of color are improved. The result is a much more clear and shiny finish. A protective layer remains to help lock in the added shine and gloss.

  • Hand Wash - Typically a no-rinse hand wash procedure is used for several reasons. The method is environmentally conscious, easier on the car's paint surface and takes less time perform. If the car is too dirty to do a rinseless wash then the "2-bucket method" is done using a high grade car shampoo as the cleanser.

  • Chemical & Clay-Bar Decontamination - Airborne particulates, industrial fallout and iron deposits penetrate clear coats. The first step in the decontamination procedure utilizes a chemical process to rid the clear coat of ferrous materials. Iron-X is hand applied to the entire paint surface and allowed to react with the ferrous material for about 5 minutes. It is then rinsed off. For the second step of the decontamination procedure, a clay bar with suitable abrasiveness is chosen and the remaining bonded particulates are lifted from the paint. We do this procedure by hand covering the entire surface of the paint.

  • Machine applied All-In-One Cleaner/Wax - Machine applied All-In-One cleaner/wax to add a layer of protection to the paint system and increase the paint's gloss and beauty..

Silver Package

$450.00 and up
Approximate time: 6 hours

The Silver Package is a more advanced procedure. A polishing step and a cleansing step replace the AIO. The majority of swirls, scratches, water spots and etchings, oxidation and buffer marks and holograms are removed. A much nicer finish is achieved. Gloss and depth are significantly enhanced.

  • Polish - Dual action or rotary buffer machines and specialty pads are utilized to apply a range of polishes and products to reduce and eliminate paint defects.

  • Apply Cleansing Lotion - A high grade cleansing lotion is applied and removed with a soft micro fiber towel to remove any fine residue that remains on the paint after polishing.

  • Wax/Sealant - In this final step, we apply wax and sealants to add a layer of protection to the paint system and increase the paint's gloss and beauty.

Gold Package

$600.00 and up
Approximate time: 8-10 hours

The Gold Package is our most advanced procedure. Here we add a compounding step to the Silver Package procedure described above and the paint system is worked with a compound product. Compounds contain heavier abrasives than do polishes and are capable of removing the more severe defects from the clear coat.

The majority of the defects are removed during this process. For each of the compounding and polishing steps residue is carefully wiped off after each section pass. Great care is taken not to reintroduce scratches to the paint. Next, the paint is polished. Again, after every section pass great care is taken to wipe off the residue without re-instilling scratches to the paint. Other than very deep defects, all below-surface defects have now been removed. Gloss and depth are greatly enhanced and the paint is now ready for waxes, sealants or coatings.

We choose an appropriate combination of compounding product and buffing pad for your car's paint system. Then we buff the entire car using our Flex 3401, Flex PE14, Flex PE8 and Rupes LHR75e buffing machines. The spent compounding residue is carefully wiped off after each section pass. At this point, great care is taken not to reintroduce scratches into the paint.

Coatings Package

$800.00 and up
Approximate time: 10-12 hours

If our customers so desire, a cutting edge coating can be applied instead of a wax or sealant in the Gold Package. The same Gold Package process is followed. In fact, it is mandatory to compound and polish the paint system to as fine a finish as possible before applying a coating. Coatings are very hard to remove. Any defects in the paint are locked in. But, under the right circumstances a very durable high-gloss finish can be achieved and maintained. Coatings should be given serious consideration by any car enthusiast serious about maintaining his vehicle for years to come.

Note: Applying coatings adds an additional cost to the paint correction procedure.
